AbsoluteProof EXTRACHROME® now Simulates Opaltone®
plus other N-Color processes
Christchurch, New Zealand, May 23, 2006:
Gimle announces AbsoluteProof EXTRACHROME, an inkjet proofing system
capable of simulating Opaltone and other N-Color processes. Ever
sincethe Opaltone process was introduced to the printing industry,
proofing has been a major problem —only achievable with the most
expensive and time consuming specialized proofing solutions. Finall,
using AbsoluteProof EXTRACHROME, the industry can rely on affordable
Opaltone proofing with InkJet printers.
The Packaging industry is rapidly moving
into multicolor printing processes such as Opaltone(CMYK+RGB),
Hexachrome(CMYK+OG) and other ink combinations, which generate huge
savings. Affordable InkJet proofing has not been available for these
customers because their workflow commonly requires the use of
special colors that are outside the gamut of standard ink jet
printers. AbsoluteProof’s unique multicolor engine with an
EXTRACHROME® ink set was developed to deliver the
brilliant and saturated hues demanded by the packaging industry.
AbsoluteProof EXTRACHROME exponentially expands the
capabilityof standard EPSON Stylus® Pro wide-format professional
printers, enabling them to achieve accurate simulation of multicolor
workflows cost effectively and efficiently.
Opaltone and Hexachrome are only two of the
possible combinations, however multiples of other combinations
exist. AbsoluteProof now offers support for up to 10 color
combinations using N-Color ICC profiles.
For the third time,
AbsoluteProof raises the bar and sets the worldwide industry
standard for multicolor digital inkjet proofing
GImle developed the world’s first practical
Hexachrome ink jet proofing solution in 2002,developed the world’s
first inkjet Proofing solution to match over 93% of Pantone colors
in 2004, and now
offer the first InkJet solution to achieve
accurate color representation of the Opaltone and other multicolor
printing processes!
“The practices in the packaging sector are
changing rapidly world wide. Multicolor tools such as CREO Spotless,
Esko InkWizard, Gretag Macbeth and X-Rite’s support of Multicolor,
and the opportunity to increase profitability, there is no wonder
why this is taking place ” comments Hugo Kristinsson, CEO of Gimle.
“We work very closely with the Packaging sector and they
appreciate our development efforts in providing
cost-effective solutions to meet their needs. We are very
pleased to deliver this much needed solution to the market.”
Lida Jalali Marschke,
founder of the Color Management Group and ColorManagement.com
states, "Our packaging customers using N-Color and 7 color profiles
would not be able to match the colors of their Approval on an InkJet
printer without using AbsoluteProof with Extrachrome inks. The
industry has needed an affordable solution that will provide the
gamut necessary for customers routinely using a multitude of
"special" spot and Pantone colors formerly "out of gamut" for inkjet
proofers. AbsoluteProof is easily added to a packaging customer's
portfolio of proofing tools. Companies using the AbsoluteProof +
Extrachrome Epson solution will have an edge on competitors who
continue to use time consuming and very expensive proofing systems.
AbsoluteProof is a high quality Mac OSX low
cost, digital proofing application with licensed PANTONE®
color libraries that delivers Rip integrity and color integrity, It
can take input files directly from the Plate or Imagesetter Rips as
well as design applications. AbsoluteProof then recombines and color
manages the information before sending the output file to the

Gimle
announces ink jet proofing BREAKTROUGH,
Absolute-Proof EXTRACHROME®
System Capable of Accurately Simulating over 90% of PANTONE® colors
Christchurch, New Zealand, December 1,
2004: The Printing industry can now finally rely on accurate
PANTONE Color representations on affordable ink jet printers.
AbsoluteProof’s unique Multicolor engine with the Extrachrome® ink
set now expands the color gamut and capability of standard Epson
Stylus PRO 4000, 7600 or 9600 printers to achieve accurate
simulations of over 90% of the PANTONE color library.
For the second time AbsoluteProof sets the
worldwide industry benchmark.
The company developed the world’s first
practical Hexachrome ink jet proofing solution in 2002.
Now they offer the first and only solution
to achieve an accurate color representation of over 90% of the
PANTONE color library in a proofing workflow.
“The issue of PANTONE color matching in
digital proofing workflows has been a significant hurdle for the
printing industry from Day One” said Hugo Kristinsson, CEO of Gimle.
“It is evident from the IPA Proofing Roundup (http://www.ipa.org/proofing)
earlier this year where 26 proofing systems attempted to
match ONLY 11 PANTONE colors, results varied from DeltaE 2.9 to
20.59, returning an disappointing average DeltaE of 9.57. We are
pleased to be able to offer our clients a solution that can
accurately reproduce the WHOLE 1114 PANTONE colors with average
DeltaE as low as 1.87. The Printing Industry and Design
Professionals have never had more color and control available at
their fingertips, they can now reproduce PANTONE colors with ease.”
Field-testing of the AbsoluteProof
Extrachrome system has demonstrated accurate PANTONE color
simulations for over 93% of the PANTONE colors under a DeltaE 3, the
system has proofed it self to be robust and reliable and capable of
processing over 100 special colors in the same job. Even with
standard inks this system can simulate over 85% of the PANTONE
colors below DeltaE 3.
AbsoluteProof is a high quality, low cost,
digital proofing application with licensed PANTONE®
color libraries that delivers Rip integrity and color integrity, It
can take input files directly from the Plate or Imagesetter Rips as
well as design applications. AbsoluteProof then recombines and color
manages the information before sending the output file to the
printer. In an imagesetter workflow AbsoluteProof gives an extremely
precise simulation of how the job will reproduce on the press,
showing PANTONE colors, halftones, all traps, overprints, fonts,
etc. In fact every file attribute that is matchable on a press.
AbsoluteProof’s advanced features include;
6-channel linearization feature allowing individual inks to be
‘tuned’ for optimizing proofer output, Halftone proofing with full
control of Dot Gain, Remote proofing and consistency checking via
support provided for GretagMacbeth's ProfileMaker MeasureTool.

AbsoluteProof Extrachrome®
pre- launched at GraphExpo, 10th October 2004 This
totally revolutionary proofing system is more capable of matching
Pantone and other spot colors than any other proofing system
(digital or analogue) on the market. It is capable of matching the
whole Pantone library with accuracy of an average of below 2 Delta E,
that is an average of 1109 colors. 90% of the Pantone colors totals. This
is a performance no other current proofing system can repeat.
We actually offered visitors at
the show to give them a full system if they could find any solution
at the show that could match our capabilities in matching Pantone
colors. It goes without saying that we did not have to give away any
systems at the show.
This unique system is a
combination of our AbsoluteProof software and Extrachrome inks that
replace two of the Epson Ultrachrome®
inks. This system is suitable for the Epson Stylus PRO 4000, 7600 and 9600
devices. Any of these devices can be converted to a Extrachrome
proofing device.

Hexachrome proofing resolved, June 25, 2004
An innovative pre-press software that
simulates Hexachrome printing on an inkjet printer using ICC
profiles is reducing two day proofing jobs to thirty minutes for
multinational metal printer Kian Joo.
Website
The largest packaging company in the Asia-Pacific region, Kian Joo
Can produces all types of tin cans and containers, two-piece
aluminum beverage cans, corrugated carton boxes, PET bottles and
other plastic products. It currently has a staff strength of over
2,000 people with 15 factories in Malaysia and Singapore.
Kian Joo chose AbsoluteProof as the digital proofing solution to
proof its Hexachrome workflow after extensive evaluation of options.
In the past Kian Joo had been proofing Hexachrome jobs directly on
press and the process had taken up to two days.
For an operation the size of Kian Joo’s, the cost and time involved
in providing proofs on presses worth up to $2 million was
excruciatingly high. It was obvious to management that to remove
such a cost represented an obvious saving and productivity gain.
Managers were drawn to AbsoluteProof’s ability to predict the press
using an ICC profile and outputting to a Roland Hexachrome proofing
device and Epson 9600 – costing substantially less than the presses
Kian Joo previously used for proofing.
From days to minutes
After installation of AbsoluteProof Kian Joo is proofing its
Hexachrome jobs in a matter of minutes instead of days.
Kian Joo is an example of many packaging print companies utilizing
Hexachrome to gain major savings in make-ready time and ink
stocking. With Hexachrome, it is possible to reproduce rich, vibrant
solid colors, realistic skin tones and elegant pastels. The
Hexachrome color gamut exceeds that of CMYK, allowing the printer to
achieve the same bright, vibrant colors as were originally designed
on the computer monitor.
AbsoluteProof provides support for a range of Epson, HP and Roland
Inkjet printers and offers a digital Hexachrome proofing workflow
with full ICC support.
Until recently, there was no proofing solution that has offered a
true digital Hexachrome proofing workflow. AbsoluteProof is now
providing a complete ICC proofing workflow solution. By utilizing
the ProfileMaker Professional Multicolor Module from GretagMacbeth,
AbsoluteProof from Gimlé, and an Extended colorgamut printer, the
packaging industry is able to achieve true Hexachrome-In,
Hexachrome-Out proofing. It is now possible to match up to 97% of
Pantone colors with true integrity of the imagesetter rip,
interpreting traps, overprints and all other file issues to
accurately match what the final printing press will produce.
“AbsoluteProof is an important workflow component that enhances the
Hexachrome pre-press process and makes it possible to simulate
Hexachrome output on inkjet printers,” states Andy Hatkoff, vice
president of Pantone’s Electronic Color Systems. “The versatility of
AbsoluteProof will make Hexachrome proofing easier and more
accessible. This is a solution our customers have been looking for.”
AbsoluteProof is able to simulate PANTONE Colors; interpreting
traps, overprints and all other file issues to represent what the
final printing press will produce. Processing files from the
imagesetter Rip, AbsoluteProof offers Rip integrity and color
integrity.
AbsoluteProof accepts a range of files from imagesetter RIPs, CMYK,
or RGB TIFF and utilizes the full color gamut of the printer for
matching spot colors that are outside the source color space. As the
source files come from the imagesetter, the results are exactly the
same interpretation of traps, overprints and fonts that will be seen
on the press.
AbsoluteProof’s advanced features allow individual inks to be
‘tuned’ for optimizing proofer output. It also provides 6-channel
linearization and support for GretagMacbeth's ProfileMaker
MeasureTool.

of the proofer for matching Pantone and other spot colors.
Driver added for the Epson 4000
AbsoluteProof was selected for the
innovation hall at Drupa where young and innovative companies have
been selected to expose their solutions. "Feedback from the industry
was absolutely fantastic" says Hugo Kristinsson CEO of Gimle.
"It was a pleasure for us to be able to proof
to the industry that we can live up to our big statements. It is not
easy to compare colors in an e-mail but for the industry to see what
we have achieved certainly makes a huge impact. In general the
feedback form the industry was "The best we have ever seen".
This was a high value to us as one of our biggest problems is that
our high end users in the packaging and flexography sectors refuse
us of referrals as they consider the use of AbsoluteProof to be a
competitive advantage and they do not want their competitors to know
how they are achieving these results.
As we come
from the industry we concentrate on simplicity, functionality and
flexibility. We know that prepress people today need to know 10-30
complicated applications by hart to be in control in the pre-press
environment, they do not want something that is totally
incomprehensible for them. Therefore we have introduced easy to use
controls that the pre-press people are familiar with and put them in
control of their color reproduction. Simplicity is a complicated thing but we have
acchieved it and the feedback has been fantastic, this solution is
easy to understand and use."
” This is a
solution our customers have been looking for.”
Andy Hatkoff, vice
president of Pantone’s Electronic Color Systems.

Christchurch, New
Zealand, June 6, 2003: Gimlé, developers
of AbsoluteProof Software, announce a Pantone license of the first
true Hexachrome-In and Hexachrome-Out proofing workflow with ICC
support. AbsoluteProof is a high quality, low cost digital proofing
application with licensed PANTONE®
Color libraries. AbsoluteProof is not only capable of proofing
Hexachrome on Hexachrome capable printers, but also on CMYK Ink Jet
printers. Hexachrome files are taken from the imagesetter Rip or
Hexachrome separated images through an ICC profile, and AbsoluteProof
then recombines and color manages the information and sends the file
to the proofer. The only limitations are within the color gamut of the
proofing device itself.
The packaging industry has
been steadily adopting Hexachrome printing to gain major savings in
make-ready time and ink stocking. With Hexachrome, it is possible to
reproduce rich, vibrant solid colors, realistic skin tones and elegant
pastels. The Hexachrome color gamut exceeds that of CMYK, allowing the
printer to achieve the same bright, vibrant colors as were originally
designed on the computer monitor.
AbsoluteProof provides
support for a range of Epson, HP and Roland Inkjet printers and offers
a digital Hexachrome proofing workflow with full ICC support.
AbsoluteProof makes it easy
to proof Hexachrome jobs on inkjet printers. Using programs such as
PANTONE HexWare®
and AbsoluteProof, the user can now take jobs that have been separated
for Hexachrome and proof them on their inkjet printer.
“AbsoluteProof is an
important workflow component that enhances the Hexachrome pre-press
process and makes it possible to simulate Hexachrome output on inkjet
printers,” states Andy Hatkoff, vice president of Pantone’s Electronic
Color Systems. “The versatility of AbsoluteProof will make Hexachrome
proofing easier and more accessible. This is a solution our customers
have been looking for.”
AbsoluteProof is able to
simulate PANTONE Colors; interpreting traps, overprints and all other
file issues to represent what the final printing press will produce.
Processing files from the imagesetter Rip, AbsoluteProof offers Rip
integrity and color integrity.
AbsoluteProof accepts a
range of CMYK or RGB TIFF files from imagesetter RIPs and utilizes the
full color gamut of the printer for matching spot colors that are
outside the source color space. As the source files come from the
imagesetter, the results are exactly the same interpretation of traps,
overprints and fonts that will be seen on the press.
AbsoluteProof’s advanced
features allow individual inks to be ‘tuned’ for optimizing proofer
output. It also provides 6-channel linearization and support for
GretagMacbeth's ProfileMaker MeasureTool.

“Gimlé is committed to
providing a fully automated color managed workflow to all sectors of
the printing industry. In 1999 we set out to develop a robust flexible
digital proofing application, we are very proud to announce the
release of AbsoluteProof 2.3 with PANTONE Hexachrome®
and PANTONE Color support.
We also came across the
specific need in the packaging industry for Hexachrome support for
AbsoluteProof. The Hexachrome proofing workflow is extremely color
critical, requiring precision color matching. It gives me great
pleasure to say that we now offer a unique solution that enables fully
automated color managed ICC Hexachrome proofing on Ink Jet printers.
